Broccoli Polpettes

  • Ingredients

    • 1 cup finely chopped broccoli (with a knife or in a food processor)
    • 1 large carrot, finely grated
    • 1 onion, finely chopped
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1 beaten egg
    • ¼ cup plain breadcrumbs
    • Salt and pepper from the mill, to taste
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • Tomato sauce
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning (or your favorite spices)
    • 1 can (680ml) tomato sauce (or more to taste)
  • Preparation

    1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
    2. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the meatballs except the oil. Shape into balls about 2 tbsp. in size. Set aside.
    3. In a deep ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil and brown the meatballs for five minutes, turning them regularly. Add all the sauce ingredients. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
    4. Serve over buttered pasta.
