The Les Belles Combines method for buying kids' clothes

14 August, 2025

As Quebec parents, every season brings back the sometimes long and daunting task of sorting through each child's clothes (whether we have one, three or seven!) so that everyone has a wardrobe suited not only to their growing body but also to the weather in the months ahead. Because at Les Belles Combines we like to simplify your life, we designed the perfect printable to help you through this task. Follow these few tips, pour yourself a drink of your choice, and get to work!

Step 1:

Take the time to wash all of each child's clothes so you have everything you own right at hand and don't forget a single piece at the bottom of the laundry basket!

Step 2:

Sort the clothes into categories in front of you or in the kids' drawers and closets so you can clearly see how many of each item (pants, tops, etc.) each child has. The Belles Combines trick to avoid doing laundry several times a week? Set out one outfit kit per day of the week (T-shirt and shorts in summer, long-sleeved top and pants in winter) for each child. You'll quickly see which pieces you need to get. Of course, don't forget to set aside a space for underwear and special-occasion pieces!

Step 3:

Before buying new items, take the time to check the clothing bins (ideally well organized and clearly labeled!) of your older children to see whether some pieces could help complete the wardrobes of your younger ones.

Step 4:

Take a moment to measure each of your children and write the measurements in the space provided in your Little Clothes Shopping Guide. Then fill out one sheet for each child, noting the quantities needed, in stock and to buy for each item on the list. Next, get nice and comfortable and go hunting for finds online, or lace up your best sneakers for a proper shopping trip!
