Pork burgers and barbecue mayo

A rather classic but equally tasty version of the burger: a simple minced pork patty, topped with pickled gherkins and red onions, served in a hamburger bun with barbecue mayonnaise. A simple and effective burger that will please the whole family!

Freeze for three months.

  • Ingredients

    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 450g minced pork
    • 1 onion, finely chopped
    • ½ cup bread crumbs
    • 1 egg
    • 8 burger buns

    For the barbecue mayo:

    • ½ cup mayonnaise
    • ¼ cup barbecue sauce

    Toppings:

    • A few slices of pickled gherkins
    • A few slices of red onions
    • A few lettuce leaves
  • Preparation

    1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, onion, breadcrumbs and egg. Form into 8 patties.
    2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat and cook patties for 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
    3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the barbecue mayo and set aside.
    4. When ready to serve, grill burger buns and top with a pork patty, barbecue mayo, a few slices of pickles, red onions and lettuce leaves.

Notes and tips

Add ½ cup crumbled feta cheese to ground pork mixture.
