Wafers At The Molasses

  • Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tbsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
    • 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup molasses
    • 1 egg
    • 3 tbsp milk
    • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • Preparation

    1. Preheat oven to 375F.
    2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg.
    3. In another bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the butter with the brown sugar and molasses for 1 minute. Add the egg and milk and mix well.
    4. Using a wooden spoon, stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Stir in the nuts and mix again.
    5. Drop golf ball-sized balls of dough onto one or two nonstick baking sheets. Be sure to leave at least 2 inches of space between each patty.
    6. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
