  • Ingredients

    • 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
    • 450 g (1 lb) lean ground pork
    • 250 ml (1 cup) grated carrots
    • 1 chopped yellow onion
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 500 ml (2 cups) salsa or more to taste
    • Salt and pepper from the mill
    • 12 hot dog buns
  • Preparation

    1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil and cook the meat and onion for 5 minutes.
    2. Add remaining ingredients except hot dog buns and simmer for 15 minutes.
    3. Place the meat mixture in an airtight container.
    4. Reheat and place in hot dog buns when ready to serve. This topping can also be used for shepherd's pie, as a pasta topping, or in a plate of meal-sized nachos.
